Matthew D Belford MA, CSCS
Coach Belford is the owner and director of programs for Full Count Baseball. Matt has been the Head Baseball Coach of Bloomfield College Baseball since 2001. He also serves as the Athletic Department Recruiting Coordinator, and is an Adjunct Professor of Exercise and Fitness courses in Physical Education. Under is direction he and his staff have taken the team from consecutive 4 and 8 win season just four years ago to the current success that the Deacons have enjoyed. In 2006 Coach Belford was named Coach of the Year by his fellow coaches in the Central Atlantic Collegian Conference. The 2006 Deacons broke the schools single season win total with 26 in 2006 and went for the first time in eight years to The CACC tournament, and won their first game. Coach does informal and formal lectures for parents and high school coaches on NCAA recruiting process. He is currently working on first book “So You Want to a College Recruited Baseball Player”
Coach Belford has earned a Masters Degree’s from Montclair State University, in Physical Education w / a Coaching Administration and Sport Biomechanics in 2003. He also has earned a Master in Arts in Education through Montclair State, which he earned in 2004.
He began his college-coaching career in 1998 at his Ammeter Kean University. He was hired as the outfield instructor, and assisted with hitters and pitchers. He was given a large responsibility of coordination of recruiting for the cougars. His efforts brought players that had helped Kean win the 2001 New Jersey Athletic Conference Title, and advance to the NCAA Regional of the College World Series. The team was ranked as high as seventh nationally that year. Coach received his Bachelors Degree in 1995 in the field of Physical Education with a specialization in Exercise Physiology. He completed additional credits for a minor in education.
Prior to the start of his college coaching career, coach Belford owned and operated a highly successful in-home personal training business called Hands –On Fitness. He opened the company while he was a sophomore in college, and began coaching where he played his high school baseball at Piscataway High School. He entered the coaching ranks as the freshman coach in 1994, and quickly proved himself worthy enough to be named the assistant varsity coach in 1995. While with the Chiefs; Coach Belford coached two of best pitchers in the schools history. Cory Smith (1st round draft choice of the Cleveland Indians 2000) and Brian Malko (Minnesota Twins Draft choice 1995). Coach Belford also enjoyed success as a pitcher for the 1987 and Mid-State Conference Champion Chiefs team in 1988.
Coach Belford is a firm believer in continuing education and learning something from everyone. He has held numerous certifications and affiliations with the nations leading associations of health, fitness, sports medicine, and baseball. He currently sits on The NCAA Northeast Regional Baseball Committee. He has had associations and certifications with the following National Strength and Conditioning Association, American College of Sports Medicine, American Council on Exercise, American Baseball Coaches Association.
Coach Belford currently resides in Middlesex County, NJ with his wife Rita of six years and two small boys Matthew and Justin four and two tears old respectively.
Lead Camp Instructor
Paul is the lead Instructor in All Camps and Instructional programs. Paul is a teacher of Physical and Education and Health at The prestigious charter school in Newark, NJ. He has been there since 2001. Paul has been an assistant coach at Bloomfield College for six years and has coached third base for the Deacons for the last three seasons. Paul was an All New Jersey Athletic Conference Player selection in 1999 and 2000 while playing infield for The Kean University Cougars, ranked as high a 7th in the nation that year. He received his BA in Physical Education in 2000. He is currently working on a Maters Degree in Administration and Supervision.
Infield and Baserunning
BA in Sociology and Education from William Patterson University. Tim has been an instructor with Full Count Baseball for two years. He is 4th grade English teacher in The Edison Township School District. As a player Tim was two time All New Jersey Athletic Conference selection. He and an exceptional career as a high school player at Edison high School when he was selected All-Area in 2001. He took The Edison Post 435 Baseball team to the 2007 New Jersey State Championship. Tim has been an Assistant coach at Bloomfield College since 2005, where he works with infielders and hitting. Tim played his college baseball at William Patterson University. In 2004 Tim was an outstanding third baseman and was a 1st Team All New Jersey Athletic Conference Player selection.
Pitching and Outfield
BSW from Kean University in social wourk and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. Lou has completed his 10th year as pitching coach and outfield coach with the 2007 National Champion Kean University Cougars. Where he has been an intergral part of thier four regional titles and 2002 New Jersey Conference Championship teams. Lou Has been a parole officer and served two years in the United States Air Force.
A stand out catcher for Kean University through 1999-2003, Mike has been an instructor for Full Count Baseball for four years. He is a Physical Education Teacher for The Hillsborough School District. Mike was on The Bloomfield College Staff for the 2004 season.Mike was a player for Coach Belford that was a part of The 2002 NJAC Championship team. Mike has been a lead instructor Full Count Baseball for the last five years.
Pitching / Hitting
John was an Outstanding two player for both The College of New Jersey and Kean University. John received his BA from Kean University in 2002.He was named to The NJAC team in 2001 and was a stand out player for The Woodbridge Barrons, when he was a first team All Area selection in addition to garnishing All County Awards in 1997.
John received his BA from Kean University in 2002 in special Education A big lefty pitcher and one of the conferences best defensive first baseman. John is currently a Physical Education Teacher at Woodbridge High School. John is a tremendous pitching instructor as well as infield coach.
John has been The Camp Director for the past two years, and been with Full Count baseball since 2003.
Hitting / Infield
BA degree in Education from Kean University in 1998 and a Masters in Administration and Supervision of Education. The All Time record holder in Batting Avg. for a career for Division III Baseball. He career ended at the professional level when played for The Nashua Pride of The Atlantic League in 1998 through 2000.He was a three time All American for Kean University ’98, ‘99,’00. Frank has to many individual awards to list and is a tremendous instructor for our hitters. He has been huge part of the success of The National Championship Kean University Cougars as the hitting instructor for the past three years.
Hitting / Outfield
Jeff was a stand out Baseball Player at NCAA Division II North East 10; power American International College in Springfield Massachusetts. Jeff also was scholarship as a football player while at AIC. While on the baseball field he was an all NE-10 conference first team first baseman and Outfielder three times in his career. He is the current recruiting coordinator and hitting instructor for Bloomfield College. He has coached for several years in the Connie Mack Summer in his hometown of New Milford. He has been working as an instructor for the New Milford winter baseball-training program for the past three years.
Hitting / Outfield
Joe was a former player for Coach Belford at Bloomfield College. Joe has been an instructor with Full Count Baseball since 2002. Joe has a tremendous work ethic and organizational skills. Joe received his BA from Bloomfield College in 2005 in Criminal Justice and studying for the New Jersey State Police Exam.
Infielders and Baserunning
A BA in Physcology from Kean University. “Cisco” played as an outstanding infielder and was given all NJAC awards three of four years playing. He ahs been an infied coach for the Cougars for the past two years. He most recently help coach The 2007 National Champions infielders at Kean University in Union NJ.
Outfield / Baserunning
Frank was an outstanding outfielder for coach Belford at Kean University. One of the best athletes he has ever had. Frank received his degree in Accounting and Business from Pace University in 2002. While he is Owner of his own Financial Services Firm; “Ryan James Financial Group”, Frank is still actively involved in coaching baseball. He spent two years as an assistant to Coach Belford traveling to Florida, Georgia, North & South Carolina, Maine, New England, and New York with a high school showcase team in 2004 and 2005. He works as a volunteer assistant coach with The Bloomfield College Deacons, overseeing outfield instruction and team strength & conditioning. Frank has been the Associate Director of The Power School Strength and Conditioning Program since 2004. Frank is married with two boys Aaron and Aleck, ages 4 and 2 respectively.
